An election in the era of disinformation
An election, a fortiori presidential, is subject to the phenomenon of disinformation.
Diffusion of Fake-News , proliferation of Deepfake, race for click ... The disinformation levers are multiplying, in particular with the rise of the Internet connection on a global scale and the development of social networks which relay any type of information, whether fair or false.
To counter this threat during the Senegalese election campaign, an alliance of fact verifiers was created, known under the hashtag of #Saytuse2024. It aims to track down the false information and denounce it in particular on the X account of the same name. Supported by many Senegalese media, Africa-Check is behind this initiative.
The crucial impact of cutting the electoral card
Another threat weighs on these presidential elections. That of the role of cutting out the electoral card which can have a direct impact on the campaign. Rediscovery of the electoral card is a system governed by laws: it is necessarily carried out transparent, in compliance with the principles of equity and the legal framework. However, when truncated, this system can significantly affect the end result of an election.
However, at the time of the drafting of this article, the electoral card of the presidential elections of 2024 has still not been published. It breaks the electoral law subject to the need for transparency and therefore raises legitimate questions.
Would the elections are the subject of "electoral colding"?
