On June 10, an e publication of Pesacheck denied an F AKE News posted on the social network X (ex-Twitter), saying, a supporting photo, that an attack on the terrorist group Boko Haram took place in Nigeria. A rigorous verification of the organization of Fact-Checking, involving an inverted image search, allows the characterization of photography: it comes from an article dating from September 2014. The post is fake. False announcements, erroneous news, non -existent facts, are as many cases of disinformation that the actors of Pesacheck fight every day.

To the origins of the project
The CFA subsidizes multiple investigations platforms and provides access to several open, safe and verified sources as a source Africa and Open Africa , used by the Pesacheck teams. The CFA works in more than twenty African countries, and is considered to be the largest organization of data and journalism and "civic technology laboratory" on the continent, with main conduct, total transparency, honesty and impartiality vis-à-vis citizens.

The network analyzes figures, statistics, financial data and the statements set out by public figures in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. Today deployed in 18 African countries, from east to west to South Africa via the Sahel, Pescheck is considered tohe biggest Fact-Checking program on the whole continent.
National partnerships and the creation of many verification tools
Using various analysis tools, Pesacheck actors operate within the media and social networks, where false information circulates very quickly. They also verify political speeches, media announcements, content of the speeches of influenced people . Certified by the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN), they work in partnership with Fact-Checking actors present in different African countries. Among them, multiple investigative organizations, such as inversely LAB (ILAB) in the African Network of Centers for Investigative Reporting (ANCIR) conducting surveys in the medico-legal field. They are also partners of Facebook and WhatsApp.
Faced with the inconsistencies noted in political announcements, several projects are implemented , such as Pesyetu (guarantee visibility on the government budget), Wajibisha (or PromiseTracker : support the organizations of Fact-Checking and help citizens to analyze the ads of policies) and Taxclock (check the way money is managed by the government). They also work on the design of Fact-Checking tools allowing their partners and citizens to be able to verify the information by themselves and in a simpler way. In order to reach as many people as possible, the articles are translated into several languages.
Transparency at the heart of investigations and results
Like many Fact-Checking players, Pescheck is carrying out real investigation work and ensures total transparency on the methodology used to correct false information. They reveal their evidence and their sources, explain the facts as clear as possible. Citizens are able to know the correction process as well as the various stakeholders. Finally, they take care to always respect equity, authenticity and impartiality in their methods of Fact-Checkinget to correct their any errors.
