As part of a training program for 50 young educators, the Cameroonian Association for Media Education and Information, in partnership with AFD (French Development Agency), kicked off a new training session.

The year 2025 promises to be responsible for actors of Cameroonian civil society engaged in the fight against disinformation. As the presidential election scheduled for October, the ramp -up of fake news on social networks is raising concerns about the presidential election. Faced with these challenges, immediate mobilization is essential, by directing this action towards key actors, such as the media, in order to make them aware and to equip them effectively to counter these phenomena constantly increasing.

It is in this perspective that the Cameroonian media education association, known as Eduk-Média Cameroon , took the lead by launching its training program for educators at the EMI. Started on January 8, 2025, this program, which takes place over a period of two months, is part of their #Desinfoxjeunesse , supported by CFI (the French Development Agency for the Media). The project aims to train 50 educators distributed in five of the ten regions of Cameroon, so that they integrate educational resources into EMI in their educational practices.

Concretely, this training aims to strengthen the skills of youth supervisors in several areas, in particular:

  • The notions of disinformation, mesinformation and malinformation;
  • The development of critical mind;
  • The functioning of social media.

The aim of this training is to provide educators with the skills necessary to adapt to a constantly evolving media environment.

After a first session held in Yaoundé from January 8 to 10, 2025, the program continues in the following cities:

  • Bafoussam: January 29 to 31, 2025
  • Douala: from February 5 to 7, 2025
  • Bertoua: from February 18 to 20, 2025
  • Maroua: from February 26 to 28, 2025
