As part of the #Desinfoxjeunesse project, in partnership with CFI Media (French Development Agency for the Media), the Cameroonian Media Education Association, Eduk-Média, held training for three days in the economic capital, Douala.

From February 26 to 28, 2025, this training intended for managers of multifunctional youth promotion centers (CMPJ), coordinators of post and extracurricular activities (APPS), managers of women and family promotion centers (CPFF) and officials of the school orient aimed at helping them to develop critical skills of young people in which they are responsible. This, in order to bring them to analyze and disseminate reliable information while strengthening their confidence in their respective community.

Training shutters

In a world overwhelmed by information, knowing how to distinguish the true from the false and the real of the unreal has become essential. This is one of the main reasons why strengthening the capacities of these young supervisors rested on several fields such as: understanding of the EMI (fundamental, historical, importance and basic concept), the media environment of young people, key concepts, mechanisms and actors of information disorders ...), the concept of information (characteristics, Socrates filter, difference between information, opinion and advertising ...) Information, freedom of expression and digital rights, the development of critical mind (tools for critical analysis, factcheking ...).

Pedagogy at the heart of this training

The variety of interactive and collaborative teaching methods (interactive presentations, group discussion, role playing, practical workshops, case studies ...) have promoted commitment and facilitate the active learning of participants.

However, the oral and written evaluation methods, as well as the observation also made it possible to assess the skills acquired.

Only, the design and animation of an EMI activity of fighting information disorders with young people, was the most important evaluation element. This practical case, in the field, thus confirmed the integration of participants, in the pool of trainers not only of Eduk-Média, but also of their respective structures. The practical workshops took place at the multifunctional training center for promoting young people in Douala 3rd and at the Akwa woman and family promotion center.
An immersion that has borne all its fruits with careful participation of young people.
